Solange Dacosta

Partner, Rochester

Solange runs the Rochester office. She handles harassment and retaliation cases, many of them for nurses, aides and other health care workers.

Before law school Solange was a union steward at a hospital, sitting in on discipline meetings and writing grievances. She learned there that most cases are won or lost on what was written down at the time.

She now teaches clients to keep their own records, and writes the firm's guide on how to do it.

In her own words

How Solange reads a case

The people I represent usually spoke up about something real: staffing, safety, a supervisor's hands. Then the write-ups started. I lay out the dates side by side, and most of the time the story tells itself.

I'll always tell you if I think a case is weak. You deserve to decide with the whole picture.
